Put your money away! Here are the week’s best free events
Greenwich + Docklands International Festival
This annual performing arts festival brings together a brilliantly diverse line-up of companies from all over the world. Expect interactive theatre, acrobatics and, um, a load of pigeons flying around Greenwich with tiny lights attached to their bodies in opening show ‘Fly by Night’. See p74 for more shows you can’t miss. Old Royal Naval College. Greenwich rail. Thu Jun 21-Mon Jun 25.
LGBT+ Summer Picnic
Slap on some suncream, stock up on crisps and meet like-minded folk at this inclusive picnic. Play rounders, join an alfresco fitness class or watch performances from drag queen Shyanne O’Shea. Hampstead Heath. Hampstead Heath Overground. Sun Jun 24.
Piña colada pop-up
If you like piña coladas, get down to Boxpark Shoreditch this Thursday where Hilton Hotels will be bringing tropical vibes and handing out free tipples. Fingers crossed you won’t get caught in the rain. Boxpark Shoreditch. Shoreditch High St Overground. Thu Jun 21.
East Village’s Wellness Day
Shake off the stresses of the week with a day of yoga and meditation at East Village. Get moving in a high-intensity yoga session or chill out with ‘heartfulness’ yoga. It’s first come, first served, so limber up and get there early. East Village. Tube: Stratford. Sat Jun 23, 10am-4pm.
Third Space Fitstival class
Swanky gym Third Space is hosting loads of free workouts as part of its very own Fitstival. Classes are super-popular but there are exclusive tickets for Time Out readers. Snap ’em up and get sweaty. Crossrail Place Roof Garden. Tube: Canary Wharf. Fri Jun 22, noon-1pm.
Free falafel at Lazeez Tapas
Hungry? Lebanese restaurant Lazeez Tapas is handing out free falafel with a choice of toppings. It kicks off at midday, so you can swap that lunchtime sarnie for a falafel feast. There’s no need to book, just turn up and chow down. Lazeez Tapas. Tube: Bond St. Wed Jun 20, noon-10pm.
