Put your money away! Here are the week’s best free events

Stepney City Farm May Day Festival

Spend Bank Holiday Monday surrounded by farmyard pals at Stepney City Farm’s May Day Festival. Watch a sheep-shearing demonstration, take part in a barn-dancing session and, most importantly, join the twentieth birthday celebrations of George and Dunstan – the farm donkeys. You’ll feel like you’re in the countryside. Almost. Stepney City Farm. Tube: Stepney Green. Mon May 7.

Free coffee

Hoxton coffee shop The Bach is giving away free coffee for Time Out readers on weekday mornings for the next two weeks. Just say ‘Time Out coffee’ when ordering and your morning caffeine fix will be on the house. The Bach Hoxton. Hoxton Overground. Until May 11, 7.30am-10am.

Canalway Cavalcade

The waterways of Little Venice will be even prettier this weekend as more than 100 canal boats get all dressed up for this annual  fest. As well as the boat parade, you can expect live music, morris dancing and lots of bunting. Grand Union Canal. Tube: Warwick Avenue. Sat May 5-Mon May 7.

The Ecover Rubbish Café

Recycling bin overflowing? Swap empty milk cartons, tin cans, plastic bottles and any other recyclable plastic  for a meal at Ecover’s pop-up café. Dishes include grain bowls and banana bread made from waste produce. 25 Long Acre. Tube: Covent Garden. Thu May 3-Fri May 4.

Sauvignon Blanc tasting session

Start the bank holiday weekend as you mean to go on by celebrating International Sauvignon Blanc Day at The New Zealand Cellar. The shop is hosting free tastings with more than 60 varieties of vino. We’ll drink to that. Pop Brixton. Tube: Brixton. Fri May 4, 5pm-7pm.

New Cross x Deptford Free Film Festival

Ditch the pricey multiplex tickets and catch loads of free films at various south-east London venues. Watch classics, indie flicks and an outdoor screening  of‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ powered by bikes. Multiple locations. Until Sun May 6.
