Brace yourselves for the hottest – and shortest – food collab in town; burger joint Shake Shack is joining forces with Soho’s mighty Sri Lankan and South Indian spot Hoppers.
This special two-day-only meeting of food masters will be happening on December 3 and 4 and all net proceeds go to a very worthy cause indeed, London-based food-poverty charity The Felix Project.
So what kind of delicious treats will be available during the brilliant but brief window, we hear you ask. Well, we start with the Lankan Shack burger. Here’s Karan Gokani of Hoppers on what it entails: ‘We’ve tried to take the elements of a traditional burger and add a unique Hoppers spin to them – think bright red onions pickled in spiced coconut vinegar; coriander-and-green-chilli mayo to replace burger sauce; a Sri Lankan mustard-cream sauce instead of mustard, and a rich braised short rib curry to complement the flavours and texture of the Shack cheeseburger.’ Delish. Order us a dozen.
To accompany this mighty fusion are some super-special chilli cheese fries, inspired by Hoppers’ chilli cheese dosa.
Already made plans for December 3 and 4? Make a nonsense excuse, cancel them immediately and commit to getting down to the Covent Garden branch of Shake Shack instead. It’s the only Shake Shack where the Lankan Shack burger and chilli cheese fries will be available and in limited quantities too. Doors open at noon. Skip brekkie and go straight in. No regrets. Only burgers.
