Those of you with lofty dreams of getting on the London property ladder might want to know about the most popular locations for buying houses in the capital. The three trendiest locations for property hunting in the Big Smoke have been revealed.
We’re warning you – houses in these sought-after and celeb-riddled spots don’t come cheap. But for people with wallet that can afford it, this is where anybody who’s anybody is buying houses this year.
According to the Standard, Dulwich, Hampstead and Ilford are officially London’s most popular boroughs for house buyers.
Leafy Dulwich in south London, where the average asking price for a property is currently £772,360 according to Rightmove, has apparently seen a 153 percent rise in enquiries from prospective buyers per month versus last year, data from Foxtons estate agents revealed.
‘Dulwich has grown increasingly popular of late, especially amongst younger buyers as the new “cool” place to be — a crown that was previously held by the likes of Shoreditch and Camden for quite some time,’ director of Benham and Reeves Marc von Grundherr told Standard.
Meanwhile enquiries for properties in Hampstead have risen by 104 percent compared to last year. It’s no surprise that the bougie north London area is hot with house buyers – it’s a known haunt for celebs like Harry Styles and Benedict Cumberbatch, while Taylor Swift even dropped a song about the area in her latest album The Tortured Poets Department.
The third most popular borough was slightly more surprising. House enquiries for Ilford in east London have increased by 101 percent compared to 2023. Ilford’s rising popularity is likely down to the Elizabeth line link-up that arrived in the area in 2022.
Also high up on the list were Stoke Newington, Kingston and Ealing, with enquiries there rising by 93, 89 and 87 percent respectively.
