The long-awaited opening of V&A East Storehouse is a little over a month away. We’re pretty buzzed about it. Heck, we even named it one of the best new things to do in the world for 2025. Its exhibits are set to include vintage football shirts, Schiaparelli haute couture, samurai swords and the costumes of Elton John, to name but a few. Oh, and an entire centre dedicated to David Bowie.

Admiring all the the hundreds of thousands of artefacts housed at the Storehouse will be hungry work though. And what’s a museum without a good cafe? Now, details of V&A East’s eatery have been revealed – one of Time Out’s favourite bakeries, e5 Bakehouse, will be on site from May 31 to supply all the goods.

It’ll be e5’s third outpost in the city, with another mini-branch in Poplar. If you’re not familiar with its bakes, boy are you in for a treat. The bakery has promised that it’s V&A branch will be serving all its familiar offerings, so expect stuff like it’s divine semla buns, freshly baked sourdough and creative danish pastries.

Louise Lateur, e5 Bakehouse’s Managing Director comments: ‘We’re very excited to work alongside V&A East Storehouse teams to conceptualise e5 Bakehouse’s third cafe, e5 Storehouse. Alongside artisanal baking, e5 Bakehouse has always been interested in design and sustainability.

‘We’re working closely with V&A East Storehouse to design a cafe that inspires creativity and communal dining. e5 Storehouse will operate as a cafe deli with our familiar pastries, bread and coffee, alongside a simple breakfast and lunch offering. The cafe will also host events and talks to be introduced after the initial opening period.’
