Chelsea is awash with posh restaurants and Michelin stars aplenty. But at the end of this week, one of it’s most beloved Michelin-starred establishments is saying an unexpected farewell.

The Five Fields on Blacklands Terrace has revealed that, after 12 ‘glorious’ years, it’s closing its doors for good on Friday February 28. It launched back in May 2013 by US chef Taylor Bonnyman and uses ingredients from its own kitchen garden in Sussex. At the time, Time Out critics called Five Fields a ‘stellar’ experience with ‘stunningly inventive cooking’.

The restaurant announced its sad departure in an Instagram post on Tuesday evening but hasn’t yet given a reason for the closure.

It stated: ‘We are incredibly grateful to all of our guests for their generous patronage and support over the years, as well as to our dedicated suppliers who have provided us with the finest ingredients and support.

‘Most importantly, we would like to express our profound gratitude and appreciation to our exceptional team members, past and present, who have always been the driving force behind our successes.

‘We are truly honoured to have been part of the hospitality community for the last dozen years and look forward to future projects.’

Five Fields isn’t the only resto suddenly saying goodbye this month. There are eight more beloved eateries across the city waving farewell. But, naturally, when one door closes another one opens. Instead of grieving the spots we’ve lost, give one best restaurants that launched in Feb a try.
