As the heatwaves rolls on, it’s time to hit the river for the summer’s most refreshing outdoor cinema series. A sunset cruise followed by a movie? Sign us up!

This week’s Movies on the River lineup begins with the classic London crime movie ‘The Long Good Friday’ and ends with a pair of crowd-pleasing musicals, ‘Moulin Rouge!’ on Friday and ‘The Greatest Showman’ on Saturday.

The rest of the week’s lineup is just as fun. On Wednesday, Movies on the River will be showing the Lindsay Lohan gem ‘Mean Girls’, and on Thursday it’s the turn of the classic Hugh Grant romcom ‘Love Actually’.

There’s no better way for film fans to enjoy these warm summer evenings than by watching a movie on the Thames after a leisurely ride past some of the city’s most famous sights.

Once the sun sets, the cinema boat docks up in view of Tower Bridge, The Shard and other landmarks and the film plays on the open-air top deck. And, yes, there’s a bar on board so you can get drinks and snacks all evening. Ahoy sailor!

Movies on the River sets sail from Tower Pier five nights a week, from Tuesday to Saturday, until September 8. Book tickets and explore the lineup here.
