Londoners are officially better travelled than the rest of the UK

Often the only antidote to London’s drab skies and pollution bogies is to get as far away as possible. Londoners love to travel, and a nationwide YouGov study has proved it: we’re the most jetsetting city in the country. We’ve visited 10.5 countries on average, higher than the national average of 9.58. In our defence, we have a lot of airports.

The survey quizzed 2,200 Brits on their holiday habits and revealed that Londoners are almost twice as likely to want to visit a new country on holiday (58 percent) than to return to a favourite spot (32 percent). We may be adventurous but we struggle to switch off: 53 percent of Londoners said they couldn’t spend more than a week away without wi-fi, compared to a 45 percent national average.

Even in this city of hardwired jetsetters, though, six percent of Londoners haven’t ever been abroad. If you’re one of them, check out our essential travel guide and get the hell out of here.
