Thinking of heading out to do something fun in London this weekend? You might need to plan your travel ahead.
There are planned closures taking place across loads of London Underground and Overground lines, and Caledonian Road tube station will be mostly closed apart from one platform. The Stansted Express is also suspended on Sunday, so make sure to plan your airport travel well in advance.
Here’s all the information you need to know about which London tube and train lines will be closed on which days.
Piccadilly line
Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20, no service between Acton Town and Uxbridge. Use the Metropolitan line between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. Replacement bus service PL4 operates between Acton Town and Rayners Lane via Ealing Common, North Ealing, Hanger Lane (for Central line and Park Royal), Alperton, Sudbury Town (Whitton Avenue East), Sudbury Hill and South Harrow.
Overground
Saturday October 19
On Saturday the 9.04pm and 10.34pm trains from Clapham Junction to Stratford will terminate at Willesden Junction. The 11.19pm Clapham Junction to Willesden Junction train will not run.
Sunday October 20
From 10.15pm, no service between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction. Replacement bus service S operates between Camden Road and Stratford via Holloway Road (for London Underground), Highbury & Islington, Canonbury, Dalston Junction (for Dalston Kingsland), Hackney Central, Homerton and Hackney Wick.
Trains at 9.59pm and 10.29pm from New Cross to Dalston Junction will not operate.
No service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace all day. Use connecting local buses between Anerley and Crystal Palace.
No service between Edmonton Green and Cheshunt all day. Connecting replacement bus service L2 operates between Enfield Town and Cheshunt via Southbury, Turkey Street, Waltham Cross (for Greater Anglia connections) and Theobalds Grove.
There will also be no Greater Anglia services at Cheshunt on this day, including the Stansted Express, replacement buses operate between Waltham Cross and Hertford East / Stansted Airport.
No service between Camden Road and Stratford from 10.15pm. Replacement bus service S operates between Camden Road and Stratford via Holloway Road (for London Underground), Highbury & Islington, Canonbury, Dalston Kingsland (for Dalston Junction), Hackney Central, Homerton and Hackney Wick. Some buses continue beyond Camden Road serving stations to Richmond on request except Brondesbury Park (use Queens Park)
Elizabeth line
On Sunday October 20 a reduced service will run between Paddington and Heathrow / Maidenhead. Six trains an hour will serve Ealing Broadway, Southall and Hayes & Harlington in each direction, four trains an hour will serve West Ealing and Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3, and two trains an hour will serve Acton Main Line, Hanwell, Heathrow Terminal 4, West Drayton, Langley, Slough, Burnham and Maidenhead.
DLR
No service between Bank / Tower Gateway and Poplar / Canary Wharf. West India Quay station will still be served by Stratford to Lewisham services all weekend. Trains will also operate between Poplar and Beckton, and between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal. Use local London Buses or London Underground services for travel between Bank / Tower Gateway and Poplar / Canary Wharf as replacement buses will not be operating.
November 2024 tube strike dates
For a hot second, things were looking hopeful for disruption on TfL as the train strikes were coming to an end. But now tube strikes are officially back on the cards. Both ASLEF and the RMT have announced strike action, and the dates to watch out for are between November 1 and 16, with significant action taking place on November 7 and November 12.
