[title]
We don’t want to jinx it, but the sun feels like it’s finally here to stay. And that means loads of brilliant evening plans to look forward to again. No more hibernating!
London’s public transport makes those plans possible. But, as we all know, it doesn’t always run smoothly. So, whether you’re just trying to get to your 9 to 5 or you’ve got post-work plans on the other side of the city, these are all the planned disruptions across the TfL network to know about over the next five days.
Elizabeth line
From Monday to Thursday, the 10.17pm train from Abbey Wood to Reading will terminate at Maidenhead. If you need to go further, you should change at Maidenhead and hop on the GWR service to Twyford and Reading.
DLR
On Friday, there’ll be reduced services across the entire DLR network.
London Trams
There will be no Tram services between Sandilands and New Addington until April 18 but there will be replacement buses available.
Bank (Central line, Northern line, DLR)
There’s reduced escalator service at Bank station until further notice. Right now, there’s no upwards escalator between the the Central / Northern line and the District line. You’ll need to exit the station via the Cannon Street entrance and re-enter at Monument.
Blackhorse Road (Victoria line)
If you’re getting on at Blackhorse Road station, be aware that there’s no down escalator service to the Victoria line until July. You’ll need to use the stairs instead.
Canning Town (Jubilee line, DLR)
There’s a reduced escalator service going to and from the platforms for the Jubilee line and DLR. Passengers can use the stairs or alternative escalators instead.
Cutty Sark (DLR)
Cutty Sark has no escalators running until further notice. TfL recommends you take the DLR from Greenwich station for a smoother journey.
Green Park (Jubilee line)
There’s no step-free access to or from the Jubilee line at Green Park station until August. You’re best off travelling via Westminster and Victoria using the Victoria line to/from Green Park.
Highgate (Northern line)
TfL recommends that people trying to get to Highgate might find it easier to get off the tube at Archway and complete their journey by bus. That’s because the escalator at Highgate station from the ticket hall to Archway Road remains closed for ongoing maintenance works.
Kew Gardens (District line, Mildmay line)
Heading to Kew? You should keep in mind that right now, the step-free platform interchange between platforms requires a 600m journey via the street.
London Bridge (Jubilee line, Northern line)
There’s a reduced escalator service between the ticket hall at London Bridge station and the Northern line mid-concourse level. TfL says this should only last until mid-March.
Southwark (Jubilee line)
Southwark station will be shut from 11pm on Friday. You’ll need to use Waterloo station instead.
Shepherd’s Bush (Central line)
From Wednesday, 19 March to late August, there will be no down escalator at Shepherd’s Bush Central line station. Passengers will have to use the 70-step staircase down to the platform instead .
Surrey Quays Rail (Windrush line)
Keep in mind that the doors of the last carriage of the trains won’t open on the southbound platform of Surrey Quays restaurant station due to station improvement work.
Whitechapel (Elizabeth line, Hammersmith and City, District, Windrush)
From March 31 to April 13 there’s a reduced lift service at Whitechapel station between the Elizabeth line, southbound Windrush line and lower concourse and no lift service between the lower concourse and northbound Windrush line.
