This might sound like a joke but we’re actually deadly serious – London is in the grip of a KFC chicken drought. The fast-food giant has closed 750 of its 900 UK outlets as a result of problems with its new delivery contract. Just 18 of its restaurants remain open in London, and people are completely distraught.

‘The chicken crossed the road, just not to our restaurants,’ KFC explained, trying to make light of the crisis on Twitter. ‘We’ve brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems – getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!’
So is the chicken shortage at KFC the beginning of the Zombie apocalypse??

One family described the experience of queuing at a drive-through for a family bucket only to told there was no chicken: ‘We then had the joy of queuing to get back out again.’ Dark times indeed.
