We love subterranean stuff here at Time Out. From the tube, to the super sewer, it’s kind of fascinating to think that there’s all this stuff going on beneath London’s surface. So, we’ve got some exciting news for all you fellow underground-heads: a massive go-karting centre is opening in ‘bunker’ in Vauxhall.

From autumn 2025, speed demons will be able to whizz around the brand new racing track from K1 Speed, the world’s largest indoor go-karting operator, in central London.

K1 Speed Vauxhall will open in the new Storybox complex in south west London, a 100,000 square-foot mixed used office block and leisure space that’s due to open next year.

In the basement – what they’re calling the ‘bunker’ (although it’s not confirmed if this space was formerly used as a war shelter) – will be a 46,000 square-foot racing space. The karts themselves will be all electric, and go up to 45 miles per hour. As for the track, it will be multi-level and have LED lights.

The new central London track is also going to host K1 Speed’s Challenge GP, a monthly go-karting league. The top three finishers in the league will get the opportunity to race against drivers from around the world in the K1 Speed E-World Championship, which will take place at the K1 circuit in California, so get practicing.

The official opening date for K1 Speed Vauxhall hasn’t been revealed, but it’s expected in autumn next year.
