Looks like 2018 is a bad year for mainstream restaurant chains. First it was Jamie’s Italian, now Prezzo. The group has announced the closure of just under a third of its 300 UK restaurants, including all of its Tex-Mex outlets, with 1,000 of the 4,500-strong UK workforce expected to lose their jobs. Casual dining chains have been hit by a combination of rising costs – including a rise in the National Living Wage – and the popularity of delivery services. Sad times for Prezzo and its staff.
