Some people say you can’t get any decent fish and chips in London. To them we say, you’re wrong, because one London chippy has just been named one of Britain’s 10 best fish and chip shops.
Toff's of Muswell Hill has been voted one of the top 10 chippies in the UK in Fry Magazine's annual Fry Awards.
In the 13th edition of the annual awards, Toff’s was selected as one of Blighty’s best by a team of mystery diners. They spent months assessing takeaways across the UK based on their food quality, cleanliness, staff expertise, value for money, ease of ordering, and social media presence.
Fifty chippies were ranked across the UK, with Toff’s making it into the top 10. The family-run spot was opened in 1968 by Greek-Cypriot Andreas Toffalis, AKA ‘Toff’. It was managed by brothers George and Costas Georgiou from 1999 until 2024 when it was taken over by fish and chip management company Chesterford Group.
Toff's manager Christopher Georgiou said: ‘We are so honoured to win this prestigious award, we feel like it is a testament to all of the amazing work our team does to provide our customers with the best possible service and product, week in week out.
‘Some members of our team have been with us for decades and their hard work and dedication to Toff's has allowed us to make the business what it is today and are so excited about taking this brand even further together now as an award-winning team.’
One other London fish joint also made it into the top 50 – The Anchor in Bexley was also named as one of the UK’s best in the 2025 Fry Awards.
The overall winner will be crowned at an awards ceremony on February 26.
