You wouldn't bat an eyelid if your mate ordered a pint of lager and a packet of Monster Munch at the bar. But what about a gin martini with a pickled onion bobbing in its depths? We say it’s the ultimate indulgence – the Gibson Martini is a combo of gin, dry vermouth and a baby onion, a forgotten classic that originated over 100 years ago. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s the specialty on the menu at Clerkenwell cocktail bar The Gibson.
You order one of these bad boys at this top London bar and you’re already winning at life. But order one on Tuesday November 20 and it’ll only set you back by one English pound. The generosity is all in aid of The Gibson’s third birthday, as well as marking the inaugural World Gibson Martini Day, an annual celebration of the martini twist that the bar and Copperhead Gin have decided to establish together.
The Gibson will be selling 1,000 glasses of these £1 martinis on Tuesday, and to top it all off, sales are being donated to gender equality charity The Fawcett Society. Time to get pickled, then.
The Gibson will be celebrating World Gibson Martini Day on Tuesday November 20, from 5pm until late.
