You’d better watch out… because this weekend two annual events bring hundreds of Santas to the streets of London. First up, on Saturday December 8, is Santacon: a very silly annual fancy-dress romp that takes place in hundreds of cities each year. Up to 1,000 Santas will embark on three routes for this year’s mass tour-slash-pub crawl in London, with strict rules: full costumes only; get jolly, not plastered; call everyone ‘Santa’. This year, for the first time, the London event is a festive fundraiser: as well as giving out gifts to random passers-by, Santacon will be raising money for the Christmas for Kids charity.
If that still seems a little too anarchic, head to Clapham Common on Sunday for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity Santa Dash: a 5k or 10k run, open to all-comers, to raise money for equipment, research and support at London’s leading paediatric hospital. Sign up online and get ready to sleigh – after all, it’s all in a good Claus.
