The Royal Mint is celebrating all things Britain by releasing 26 new 10p coins. There’s a quintessentially British design for every letter of the alphabet – so you can get a little patriotic the next time you’re fishing for change. To give you an idea, B is for Bond, James Bond, E is for English breakfast and F is for fish and chips.
From today until March 11, Gilly’s Fry Bar is capitalising on the news, giving away its Japanese-inspired fish and chips (we reviewed them, they were great) for free if you flash your fish and chips 10p at its Finsbury Park location.
There are 100,000 fish and chips 10p coins now in circulation, so you’re in with a good shot. (There are only around 65 million people in the UK, after all.)
Check your change.
Free fish and chips runs (swims) until March 11 at Gilly’s Fry Bar, 4A Clifton Terrace, N4 3JP.
Here are London’s best fish and chips joints. Just in case you don't find a coin.
