Every single London theatre show still running on the night of the Queen’s funeral

It’s a small list, but there’s some good stuff

As you’re probably very aware by now, an awful lot of things are shutting down on Monday 19 for the Queen’s funeral.

There is, however, no legal requirement to do so for many institutions, notably theatres.

Most of London's theatres will in fact be closed thanks to a heady cocktail of the general tide of respect for our late monarch and the fact that doing anything and going anywhere in central London on Monday is going to be a nightmare. (Also as a nerdy sidenote, there's an increasing trend for theatres to stay open Monday and shut on Sunday).

However, a small collection of London theatres – mostly located away from the funeral action – will have Monday night shows, long after the funeral, and why not?

If you’re interested in taking in a show on Monday night, we believe this is the complete list (a couple of other theatres are open with other entertainment but don’t have a play on).

Almeida Theatre‘The Clinic’ (note that this is a ‘black out’ performance aimed at a Black audience – see the Almeida’s FAQs for more information).

Bush Theatre‘The P Word’ and ‘Clutch’.

Hampstead Theatre‘The Snail House’.

Riverside Studios‘Horse-Play’.

Seven Dials Playhouse – ‘Help! We Are Still Alive’.

Southwark Playhouse‘The Prince’ (but its other show ‘Doctor Faustus’ is cancelled).

Yard Theatre‘The Cherry Orchard’.

Enjoy some respectful theatre watching!

When is the Queen’s funeral and how can I attend?

Everything that’s cancelled in London now the Queen has died.
