Move over hygge, there’s a new Scandi trend taking over London and it’ll help you keep fit while cleaning up the environment.

Remember when Sweden’s recycling game was so strong it ran out of rubbish? Maybe this army of sweaty litter-pickers had something to do with it. Plogging, a portmanteau of the Swedish word ‘plocka’, meaning ‘to pick’, and jogging sees people pound the pavement and collect trash as they go.

Fancy giving it a go? The first London plogging event coincides with World Cleanup Day on Saturday September 15 but eager ploggers have until Sunday April 29 to register for a free ticket.

You might get annoyed with all that bending down to collect other people’s cigarette packets and Lucozade bottles while a plastic bin bag flaps behind you in the wind like a Poundland Superman cape BUT think of the toned glutes you’ll have after all that squatting action.

The London Plogging event takes place on Sat Sep 15. Check the event page for venue deets.
