Are you claustrophobic, or have you always found the thought of staying in one of those pod hotels quite appealing, actually? If you’re the latter, we have some exciting news: London is getting its very own Japanese-inspired pod hotel.
An Australian chain of budget pod hotels, Lylo, has got its sights set on the Big Smoke, and will be launching a British outpost in the future. The brand currently operates 608 pods across New Zealand and Australia, and announced plans for a big push in Europe at the start of 2025.
Lylo hotels are inspired be Japanese capsule lodgings, and ‘rooms’ feature a bed and a secure space to store belongings, with amenities like bathrooms being shared. The hotels also have co-working, social and wellness spaces.
EVT, the company that owns Lylo, is currently looking for a site in Southwark, although other locations are also being considered.
LyLo managing director Tim Alpe said: ‘We are thrilled to introduce LyLo to Europe, with London as the perfect city to launch our first property. Our innovative pod hotel concept has already proven successful in New Zealand and Australia, and we are confident that the European market will embrace our unique blend of affordability and community-focused design.
‘London’s dynamic and diverse traveller base makes it an ideal location to begin this exciting new chapter, and we look forward to bringing LyLo’s fresh approach to hospitality to the city.’
