Pool, shuffleboard and karaoke are just some of the things you’ll be able to do at Flukes, a huge 5,000 square foot games hall that is opening above Big Penny Social in Walthamstow this May.
The mega games palace that’s giving Rowans a run for its money will open on Thursday, May 8. And if you book now you’ll get a free cocktail on the opening day.
Occupying the space above the UK’s biggest beer hall, Flukes will have six interactive darts oches, two interactive shuffleboards which are the first of their kind in the UK, four pro-standard American pool tables, and three karaoke rooms powered by Lucky Voice, offering more than 11,000 tracks.
According to Big Penny, Flukes will have an ‘ambience unlike any other’ games venue in London, and is designed to look like a retro American pool bar.
Players can refuel with Big Penny’s own beers and a variety of cocktails including a Rum Punch called Carlito’s Thunder (named after a legendary employee) and a Boff Whalley – a twist on a Manhattan named after the Chumbawamba guitarist and inherited from Walthamstow’s now lost bar-in-a-pie-and-mash-shop The Jellied Eel.
The food menu features Big Penny Social’s pizzas alongside sharing plates and platters featuring modern interpretations of nostalgic treats, including homemade pork scratchings with piccalilli mayo, spiced lamb scotch eggs with a harissa dip, and bitesize Yorkshire puddings filled with cauliflower cheese.
Big Penny’s Managing Director, Frans Kobus, said: ‘Flukes is a new twist on an old games hall you’d find in social clubs, where technology on darts and shuffleboards gives everyone a chance to win and fun is at the heart of everything.
‘We’ve put a lot of work into making sure Flukes is designed and has an ambience that is unlike any other competitive socialising venue. Having this experience on top of everything else on offer in the rest of Big Penny Social will create such a special place which is great for a night out with your partner, a big group of mates, or the whole company.’
These are the best pool halls in London.
