City Spice – aka the best restaurant on Brick Lane, in our opinion – has launched a vegan curry menu. Fourteen dishes strong, it includes a tempting-sounding aubergine dhal, slow-cooked okra and a thali-style platter called ‘Shahi Sahakari’, which loosely translates to ‘The Vegan King’: a pretty punchy mission statement.

Apparently, the menu was inspired by the restaurant getting so many requests for animal-free options. Brick Lane isn’t exactly synonymous with veganism, so the times they really are a-changing.

The vegan menu is available now at City Spice, 138 Brick Lane, E1 6RU.
