Missing dearly departed Dale Winton? Or maybe you never got the chance to live out your dream of whipping round the aisles and ‘checking out’ on vintage TV show ‘Supermarket Sweep’. Well, now your wildest ‘90s dreams can come true at this London bar, which is transforming into a version of the cult game show for a limited time only.
London Cocktail Club in Shoreditch will become a replica of ‘Supermarket Sweep’ – with its ground floor given aisles, and everything – from Saturday December 1 until Saturday February 23 2019. Ticket holders will team up to race around the aisles gathering up grocery items – including Coco Pops and Angel Delight – all of which will be used to make cocktails.
Team mates will don jumpers in primary colours on arrival – just like the ones they wore on the show – before selecting a cocktail of their choice from a book entitled ‘Kitchen Cocktails’. The drink recipe collection has been put together by LCC founder and bartender JJ Goodman (pictured in purple), and since the book is all about creating cocktails from cupboard staples, team mates will be on the hunt for ingredients to make their recipe of choice. Bar staff will guide you through these cocktail creations, before you get to kick back and enjoy them.
Teams of six or more can take part in these hour-long ‘Supermarket Sweep’ sessions. Three cocktails are included in the price of each £30 ticket, and bonus prizes will be available when you grab the winning inflatables. But we know you already know the rules. Time to bust out the fake tan and ‘think of all the fun you could be having’.
Kitchen Cocktails Supermarket Sweep is at London Cocktail Club, 12-29 Sclater St, E1 6HR, from Saturday December 1 until Saturday February 23. Tickets are available here.
