Love a good read as much as you love a good drink? Dimly lit speakeasy The Blind Pig offers a night light in the form of cocktails inspired by treasured childhood stories. New to the menu for World Book Day (Thursday March 1) is the 5-a-Day, a tribute to ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. Ice cubes made from the five fruits he famously devours are used here to chill a very grown-up measure of tequila. Stomach ache definitely not included.

Other new arrivals on the menu include a chocolatey punch inspired by Augustus Gloop’s troubles in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, a carrot-heavy cocktail in honour of Peter Rabbit (pictured above) and a Harry Potter-themed drink in the Best Bottle Butter-Bitter (pictured below) – it’s a bottled cocktail to help us humble muggles get a taste for butterbeer.

The new menu arrives at The Blind Pig (58 Poland St, W1F 7NS) on Thu Mar 1, with drinks costing £10-£12.
