If the early May bank holiday was memorable for its record-breaking hot weather, then this weekend’s follow-up landed with a far more turbulent forecast.

As well as absolutely chucking it down with rain for a bit, on Saturday night a whopping 20,000 lightning strikes hit the south-east of England in the mother of all thunderstorms.

Obviously, you lot responded by doing what any normal person would do in the middle of a sky-centric apocalypse: you got your phones out and took a load of really rather impressive pics and videos. Because while lightning may never strike in the same place twice, it can hold court in your Insta stories for a full 24 hours.

Here’s the best of your stormy bank holiday posts.
