Benjamin Britten's emotive choral masterpiece is being revived at ENO to mark the centenary of the end of WWI. 'War Requiem' weaves together Wildred Owen's scabrous anti-war poetry with the Latin words of the Requiem mass, set to music that's soaked in grief, and is performed by an 80-strong chorus, a children's choir, and three soloists.
ENO boss Daniel Kramer's visually striking, contemporary production features visuals by legendary German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans - who's making his first foray into opera, but has already shown an appetite for interdisciplinary collabs after contributing a track to Frank Ocean's 2016 album 'Endless'.
