Tommy Smith’s Karma + Newt

Prodigious Scottish tenorist and composer, who has always played fiery modern jazz utterly free of any cliché, appears here with his storming new Karma quartet, here playing a vibrant mix of dexterous Arabic/Celtic fusion-funk and more reflective folk-inspired ballads. The young gun slinging group features bass guitar prodigy Kevin Glasgow, hot Scots drummer Alyn Cosker and superb keys man Steve Hamilton. Support comes from refreshing Scotland-based post-prog experimental jazz trio led by US drummer Chris Wallace with trombonist Chris Grieve.
