Tom Hewson's Treehouse

Emerging piano virtuoso Hewson is a recent graduate of Trinity College of Music but displays great maturity here in this drum-less trio with stunning Empirical vibes master Lewis Wright and bassist Calum Gourlay. His spiky, Monk-like percussive attack makes up for the lack of beats, which also leaves bags of room for some impressive, free flowing solos – think a twentysomething take on the MJQ and you're getting there. A name to watch.
