The Water City Festival Orchestra directed by violinist Michael Bochmann helps re-open the historic People's Palace at Mile End following the venue's £6.3m refurbishment.
The concert tells the story of the Lower Lea Valley through film and music and includes excerpts from Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition', 'Karelia Suite' by Sibelius, Saint-Saëns' 'Danse macabre'; and 'La Cathedral Engloutie' by Debussy. Local Bangladeshi vocalist Akash Sottar also performs, reflecting the multicultural character of the East End today.
