The Tallis Scholars: Sacred Music in the Vernacular

As specialists in Renaissance church polyphony, and having just clocked up 2,000 concerts over 42 years, The Tallis Scholars have sung more than their fair share of Latin lyrics. So now for a change the choir, directed by founder Peter Phillips, sing works from the Protestant tradition in English (Byrd and Gibbons) and German (Schütz and JS Bach). Plus four pieces by John Rutter, who has just celebrated his seventieth birthday.
