Retro New York label Daptone Records brings its biggest stars to town on one big funk and soul bill. Former prison guard Sharon Jones belts out songs from her storming new album 'Give the People What They Want' with the label's house band The Dap-Kings, and sexagenerian soul singer Charles Bradley hits the stage with his backing band The Extraordinaires. More Daptone artists – Afrobeat collective Antibalas, funk/R&B crew The Sugarman 3 and groovy duo Saun & Starr – round out the line-up, and Dap-Kings guitarist Binky Griptite comperes the evening. All in all, by the sounds of it, for one evening Shepherd's Bush will be funkier than James Brown's jockstrap.
