The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

Charles Mingus’s incredible 1963 album ‘The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady’, which bent modern jazz into a quasi-orchestral ballet score, gets a proper dance staging courtesy of choreographer Ryan Munroe, bassist Theo Malka and designer Maddy Rita Faye. Their production, partly inspired by Mingus’s own life, includes a live performance of the whole suite.
