The harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani directs his new ensemble, The Echori Soloists, in cantatas and instrumental music of seventeenth-century Germany. Includes works by Johann Kuhnau and Johann Rosenmueller (Bach's predecessors at the Thomasschule in Leipzig) and the 'Wedding Cantata' written for Bach's own parents by Bach's kinsman Johann Christoph Bach, plus his 'Meine Freundin, du bist schoen'. Bojan Cicic leads the ensemble from the violin. (This is the first concert in 'The Bach Project,' a long-term endeavour to explore the sacred vocal works of Bach and his predecessors and family members.)
