Time Out says

The finest African-American troubadour of our times, Taj Mahal began recording in 1968 with the Rising Sons (a band that also featured a young Ry Cooder) and has since released several splendidly eclectic albums, ranging from country blues to calypso, kalimba to southern soul, including his acclaimed work with Malian kora master, Toumani Diabate. His most recent recording, 'Maestro: Celebrating 40 Years', looked back over his prolific career with the likes Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley.
