Professor Simon Keefe (University of Sheffield) casts new scholarly light on one of Mozart's most famous and enduring works – the Requiem). He explores Mozart's association with sacred music traditions in Salzburg and Vienna; his masses written in Salzburg and Vienna; and the incomplete Requiem, including its myths and legends, Mozart's work on it, the completion by Franz Xaver Süssmayr, reception in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and modern-day completions.
