Stan Tracey Quintet

'Does anyone here realise just how good this guy is?' said Sonny Rollins of Tracey once after being backed by Tracey at Ronnie Scott's. Tracey's quirky, percussive piano style and his off-kilter compositions owe much to Thelonius Monk are always compelling live. He's a rarity in British jazz, being one of the few instantly recognisable voices on the circuit, not to mention one of the country's all-time greatest jazz band leaders. One to savour.
