Cody Critcheloe has done many things in his time. He's directed videos for Peaches, The Gossip and Liars, designed album artwork for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and released a dozen records with his disco-pop group Ssion since he started making music in 1996. But he's never before played a headline gig in London. Now he's finally bringing his flamboyant live show, which feasts on pop culture – Prince, Madonna, Grace Jones, the Harlem ballroom scene – to Dalston. He may be too referential ever to become a mainstream pop star, but if that keeps him playing tiny venues like this, it can only be a good thing for anyone who manages to get tickets.
