Southside Germany

Foo Fighters, Blink 182, Arcade Fire, The Chemical Brothers, Portishead, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, My Chemical Romance, Suede, Gogol Bordello, Elbow, Friendly Fires, Blood Red Shoes. Just over a decade old now, Southside is the little sister to North Germany's Hurricane festival, which is backed by the same promoters (VIVA) and occurs on the same weekend, with the same line-up. You may know of Southside for the severe storm it encountered in 2007 that sent tent poles flying and killed a paramedic, while severely injuring another, but they've since worked through this and continued to host a successful festival with a consistently impressive line-up. This year's Southside will see the likes of rock titans the Foos, pop-punkers B182 and uplifting orchestral popsters AF appear alongside infectious indie-disco trio FF, Balkan punk rockers GB and ferociously talented Brit faves AM, who have honed their talents in everything from kitchen-sink alt.pop to grungey, textured, hard-driving rock.
