Handel's opera 'Rodelinda' is one of his finest. It tells the story of a Rodelinda, a woman who believes her husband has been killed in battle, and must keep faith in him as she gets swept up in a mess of courtly political machinations. Richard Jones' new production was a hit on its premiere in 2014, thanks to his raw, edgy approach that updated the original's 7th century setting to post-war Italian gangland.
This revival will led by Rebecca Evans as Rodelinda, who returns to the cast along with Susan Bickley. They'll be joined by noted countertenor Tim Mead. Baroque specialist Christian Curnyn conducts.
