Sister festivals Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring are pretty much the Reading and Leeds of Germany, and it's not uncommon for them to sell out. The line-up, as you'd guess from the name and the slightly scary poster featuring shadowy figures with fists in the air, leans fairly heavily on guitars and distortion pedals: there's plenty of metal, emo, hardcore, crusty old punk and more six-string action. But there's also loads of rap, indie and all-out pop on offer.
