Moombahton, the genre created last year by Dutch DJ Dave Nada when he slowed down a house track to reggaeton speed for a house party in Washington, has yet to take off in London. When Diplo cranked out moombahton tunes at his last gig at Koko, the audience didn't go for it; and when the moombahton-geared Fiyapowah club night launched in May at The Camp, there were so few people in attendance that the headliner, Smutlee, didn't end up playing. But London label Pollinate are having another stab in west London as they bring over fab DJ and genre innovator Munchi from Holland, joined by the Pollinate all-stars Sily Boys, Murlo, Moroka (Secousse), Sumsin and MC Lakey adding everything from future tropical and tribal bass beats to dancehall, Afro-electro, juke and pop party classics.
