These performances come from The Little Orchestra – a London-based troupe specialising in relaxed, intimate classical concerts stripped of the usual pomp and ceremony. This time they’re heading to Notting Hill’s Porchester Hall to take on parts two and three of Handel’s ‘Messiah’, with the compere (and conductor) walking the audience through the performance and the stories associated with how the masterpiece was created.
There’ll be drinks (including cocktails), food, some sofa seating and the chance to mingle with the musicians once the concert finishes. And the dress code? ‘Come as you feel comfortable’ is the official guidance. Sounds like a wonderfully breezy way to explore classical music.
