Top US pianist Mehldau is almost as well known for his archly philosophonical sleevenotes as for his highly classical, Bach-influenced style of composition and improvisation. His Bill Evans-ish style has produced wonderfully oblique takes on Nick Drake, Radiohead, Soundgarden and a disturbingly good version of Oasis's 'Wonderwall'. Tonight he continues to blur the boundaries between jazz and everything else by teaming up with incredibly talented drummer Guiliana for an evening of free improv that will likely run into the realms of drum & bass and dance-funk.
