Debut UK appearance by this German-born pianist of Ukrainian parentage, Melnyk's 'minimalist' approach to composition manifests itself in 'maximalist' performance terms – as he creates 'continuous music'. This consists of cascades of notes, rippling by in sheets of melody, as Melnyk has also been hailed as the world's fastest pianist. Mellow rather than manic this is an alternative, acoustic take on the current trend in drone/noise sounds.
