Valery Gergiev conducts the London Symphony Orchestra in Brahms's 'Tragic Overture'; Szymanowski's Symphony No 2; and Brahms's Symphony No 2. (Brahms' Tragic Overture is the reflective, melancholy half of a pair of overtures he wrote over a summer holiday. Szymanowski's chamber-like Second Symphony became one of the composer's favourite of his own works, and Brahms' Symphony No 2 is often referred to as his 'pastoral'.)
