The team behind this impressive exhibition bill it as a ‘multisensory music experience’. From our visit, that only tells a bit of the story, though. It’s an interactive music-cum-documentary experience celebrating the evolution of Black music through the ’50s to the ’80s, using three of the USA’s greatest cities to chart musical movements such as jazz, soul and disco in the context of the social and political pressures of the times.
It’s taking place at the equally impressive Aures – a fully immersive venue in Waterloo that combines art and technology to apparently ‘ignite all five senses’. It’s certainly got plenty of pedigree, having hosted an impressive selection of events for brands and companies like Sony Music and Diesel.
LexTemper really benefits from this state-of-the-art venue, with floor-to-ceiling, 270-degree visuals, groundbreaking audio and immersive scents from Ecoscent. Visitors can also wet their whistles with cocktails inspired by the show’s three highlighted cities, with each designed by the Aures in-house mixologists.
