After last year's 'From the House of the Dead', the Royal Opera House continues its series of Janácek productions with Richard Jones's staging of the Czech composer's look at the misery of marriage. 'Katya Kabanova' follows a young woman who falls in love while her husband is away, before becoming stricken with guilt. Folksongs, an intense orchestral storm, and passionately lyrical passages build this story of a woman's rebellion in a claustrophobic, remote small town community.
