Gifted, London-based US tenor saxophonist Toussaint, whose CV includes stints with Art Blakey's legendary Jazz Messengers, Brit-jazz collective Jazz Warriors, Wynton Marsalis, Max Roach and McCoy Tyner. His melodic post-bop approach and reedy tone cuts through and illuminates the most hackneyed blues phrase. Here he lines up with former Jazz Warriors saxophonist Steve Williamson, who continues to integrate funk, jungle and hip-hop beats into his arcane, cryptic modal improvisations, after working extensively with New York M-Base composers like Steve Coleman.
