James Carter Organ Trio

Charismatic, whimsical and with talent to burn, multi-reedist saxophonist Carter has always been an incendiary figure on the bandstand. Steeped in the tradition but capable of fire-breathing Dolphy-esque solos Carter matches his soloistic power with a stylistic promiscuity that can tackle funky fusion, gypsy jazz, rich balladry or hell-for-leather swing with ease. Here he's in B3 Hammond-trio mode with keyboardist Gerard Gibbsand drummer Leonard King along for the ride. Second of two nights.
