This handy event takes a thoroughly leftfield approach to raise awareness of the importance of hand washing in preventing outbreaks of various nasty illnesses. The London Youth Gospel Choir will be performing underht name Hygiene Angels, singing 30-second snippets of a top ten 'songs to wash your hands by'. Why 30 seconds? Glad you ask. Because, friends, that's the recommended amount of time you should spend washing your hands to get rid of all them germs.
There will also be a pop-up swabbing station – London's first, surprisingly – where people can swab their hands and personal items, such as mobile phones, to see what kind of grot and filth you acquire during the course of a normal day. And to top it all off, there'll be an attempt to set a new world record for swabbing the most hands and personal items over the course of an hour.
Highbrow hygiene, indeed, and all in the name of a very sensible cause. Now, wash your hands and don't spare on the soap, okay?
